In 1891 a cycle race was inaugurated between Paris and Brest in western France. The longest race previous to this had been the 600 kilometre Paris Bordeaux which had taken place earlier that year. That race had been a great success and had sold a lot of newspapers, Paris Brest Paris would double that distance to 1,200 kilometres or about 750 miles. This race was won by Charles Terront in 71h22m, it made a great impact and caught the imagination of the newspaper buying public. The PBP as it is known was run as a race every 10 years excepting 1941 until 1951 when it became a purely amateur event eventually taking place every 4 years. I have now ridden it three times, always within 6 hours of the 90 hour time limit. I filmed the 2003 event on a small video camera and produced a DVD. In 2007 using this earlier experience as a template we set out to produce a High definition widescreen video, shot by three camera operators including myself. I rode the event and filmed using lightweight cameras. Heather supported me and filmed using a High Definition camera and Liz filmed her support efforts for members of an internet forum cycle club at a campsite in deepest Brittany. The film is now available in DVD format for £15 inc p&p to the UK and in High Definition on a number of discs in Bluray and HDDVD. For £25 inc p&p. Please contact me for further details of the HD film.
The Daylight 600. This ride crosses Scotland twice, taking in some fine scenery, voracious midges and some amazing traffic. I'm keen on it. See the Daylight page for photos and a link to a film. Or click on the picture on the left to go straight to Youtube.

Bicycle Repair Man
The kind of world we can only dream of, are there any women though. I especially like the registration of the bus.
